Yoav Rubin received a B.Sc degree in Earth Sciences, with specialization in atmospheric sciences and oceanography, from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 2010 and received a M.Sc. degree in Atmospheric Sciences from Tel-Aviv university in 2019.

Currently, Yoav is a Ph.D. student in Atmospheric Science at the Geophysics department at Tel Aviv University under the supervision of Profs. Alpert and Rostkier-Edelstein. He continues his research from the Master on high-resolution humidity measurement based on Commercial microwaves links. In his Ph.D., he focuses on improving the rain forecast by assimilating CML humidity observations in numerical weather prediction models and study the city/land cover effects on the humidity in the atmosphere.

Ph.D student.: Borys Beznoshchenko

MS in Meteorology. Graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev in 2016. The Master’s thesis was dedicated to study the near-surface wind climate at the Ukrainian Antarctic station “Akademik Vernadsky” (Faraday).

Current PhD project is “Advanced modeling of photochemistry over Israel”. A main focus of the PhD project is given to the formation of the photochemical pollutants formaldehyde (particularly over the highly industrialized Haifa bay area) and ozone, as well as the role of biogenic VOCs emission from vegetation on photochemical pollution formation. The research  is conducting using the Research and Forecasting Model with Chemistry (WRF-Chem) (Grell et al. 2005). A special focus is given to simulate the formaldehyde mixing ratios at high spatial resolution in the Haifa bay area.

Post-doctoral researcher: Dr. Anton Gelman
